Lets Talk Fashion: Monochromatic Looks

Hello loves! Today I am doing a different blog post than my usual Sunday post. I wanted to share with you different ways to wear the monochromatic look. Wearing blacks and whites is easy and creates a chic look, but wearing the same color head to toe can be just as chic. Monochromatic is wearing the same color from head to toe, sometimes in different shades. It's an easy approach to fashion, but there are still things that you should consider when putting the look together.  I have put together eight different monochromatic looks to give you some ideas on how to wear the look.

Monochromatic Looks

In the first look I paired an orange blouse with an orange faux leather skirt and orange heels. The shades of orange are similar, but slightly different. In the second look, I paired a printed cranberry red skirt, with a red lace crop top and strappy sandals that has a red heel and purple and green straps. The top and skirt are the same color, and the print gives it an extra pop. The third look is a grey turtleneck with grey jeans and grey boots. The boots has a pink heel that gives the look an extra touch. The next look is a pink blazer, with a lace pink top, pink pants in a different shade of pink, and rose gold pumps. In this look I paired a light pink top and blazer in the same color, with pants that is a slightly different shade of pink.

Gray shirt, $25 / River Island orange blouse / Martha Medeiros red top / Valentino scalloped top, $1,220 / Giorgio Armani light pink blazer, $1,020 / Alice Olivia long red skirt / Acne Studios pink pants / Orange skirt / AllSaints jeans / Valentino patent leather pumps, $775 / Kate Spade pumps / Patent boots / B Brian Atwood purple stiletto

Monochromatic Looks
I just love olive green, it's one of my favorite shades of green. In the first look I paired a olive green cold shoulder sweater, olive green ripped jeans, and camouflage print pumps. The fun thing about monochromatic is you can pair it with prints. The second look is a tan dress, a darker tan vest, with nude colored strappy heels. Trench coats and vests were a big trend in 2015. The third look is a yellow pussybow blouse, yellow lace pencil skirt, and printed sandals. I love this look because of the lace and print combo. Last but not least, I paired a light blue top that has a bow, navy blue faux leather skirt with a suede insert, and navy blue and black flats that also has a bow. I really love this look because of the bows, it's a cute and ladylike look.

Miss Selfridge pink wrap dress / Chicwish mustard shirt / Steffen Schraut bow shirt, $92 / Acrylic sweater / Alexander Wang draped vest, $370 / Topshop olive skinny jeans, $60 / River Island navy pencil skirt / Samsøe Samsøe knee length pencil skirt, $67 / Office high heels stiletto, $105 / Miu Miu pointy pumps / Dolce&Gabbana strap shoes, $680 / Yves Saint Laurent stiletto pumps

When putting together a monochromatic look, you must remember that the look should be cohesive (has organization) and balanced, meaning you wouldn't want to pair a flared skirt with a long vest and Ugg boots because that lacks balance and creates volume where you don't want. That rule applies to all fashionable looks.

I hope this blog post has inspired you to try the monochromatic look. Try pairing different shades of the same color or wearing the same color from head to toe. Have a fabulous week, until next time!
