Wear to Work Wednesday

Hello loves! This is a late blog post, but I wanted to make sure I did a Wear to Work Wednesday post. This post will show different outfits that you can wear to work. If you are transitioning to an office job and you're not quite sure what you should or should not wear to the office, this post is for you.

The basic items that you should have in your closet for office wear are: a skirt, slacks, a cardigan, and appropriate high heels. You want to start off with a neutral colored bottoms; like black, tan, or navy since it can be worn with many colors and it will get you through the first few weeks of work until you are able to buy new clothes.

The first look, I chose a black pencil skirt, a lace top, black and grey heels, and a black handbag. Ladies please keep in mind you should NOT wear 6 inch heels to work. Your club shoes should not be the same as your work shoes. Yes it may be cute, but if you want to be taken seriously and avoid trips to HR, don't do it! Shoe height should be 4 inches or lower for the office.

This look I paired black slacks with faux leather details, a pussybow blouse (yes that is the correct term), and a pair of black pumps. I personally like to purchase items that I can wear different ways, whether I am going out, going to work, or going to church. That blouse can be worn again with a pair of jeans and cute flats and the pants can be dressed up going out with friends.

A nice dress can be worn to the office, just remember the length rule. You want to wear a dress or a skirt that hits right above the knee, if not right at the knee. You also want to make sure that it isn't skin tight or revealing.

For this look I chose a pair of high heel booties or you can pair it with a pair of cute flats like the one below. Booties are great for fall, especially if you live in a warmer area like I do.

Here I paired navy blue slacks, a printed blouse, and silver accessories. The slacks can be worn again with different tops since it is navy. Navy goes well with yellow tones, olive green, tan, red/burgundy tones, white, cream, and fun prints like this blouse.

I hope these looks inspired you and gave you some ideas. Remember when dressing for the office, if you can wear it to the club and look sexy you probably shouldn't wear it to work. Skirt or dress lengths should be right above the knee or longer. Heel height shouldn't be higher than 4 inches. Tank tops, spaghetti strap tops and strapless tops should be worn underneath a blouse, cardigan, or blazer and should not be worn alone. Leave the flip flops for the beach not the office. Start with neutral colors like navy, black, tan, and build your closet from there. I think those are all my tips for now, I hope you found this blog post helpful, until next time!
